Handling rentals for Davies Davies & Associates since 2003 has been an experience, sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating but generally very enjoyable and challenging. It is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle with matching the tenants’ needs to the rentals and seeing how we can make things work best both for tenant and landlord. Professionally for the past 37 years I have been a Rare Bookseller, specializing in rare books and manuscripts, primarily 19th century and before in several different fields which interest me including literature, cookery, medicine, history and economics. I also do genealogical research.
Following undergraduate work in English and French literatures at Hartwick College I received my Masters in Library Science from Syracuse University. Instead of going into the library field I went into the rare books business followed by 14 years cataloguing and appraising books in the Rare Book Department of Sotheby’s Auction House in New York. At that point I moved home and worked via internet with James Cummins Bookseller in New York until 2001. I then started my own rare book business. In 2003 when the opportunity was offered to work with the rentals at Davies Davies & Associates while continuing my book business I jumped at it. It compliments my interests and suits me-keeps the brain working. I enjoy meeting people as well as seeing and showing beautiful houses and it gives me my “lake fix.” I spent most of my summers at Lake George until I moved to NYC. Now I get to work on vacations and enjoy the lake. I live in Fort Ann on a mountain (small one) with my family and animals
