An amazing opportunity! While not on Lake George I thought this was too great to have overlooked by location. This house with it's private lake is located about an hour north-west of Albany, a bit north of Sagandaga in the woods and along the shore of Sand Lake. Northville, about 20 minutes away has a Grand Union for groceries, also a Stewarts and church. It is a great retreat from the hustle bustle of today's world and return to the quieter days of past years with no cell phone reception (yes, even Verizon and Nextel), a television with only VCR and no regular reception, no internet (you can go to the Northville Public Library and log on there) and no power boats. Canoe, rowboat and kayak are provided, no private boats or motor craft are allowed on the property, nor ATVs or pets. A true retreat, reconnect with yourself, friends and family. There are books, games, vcr tapes for the more sedentary and maps of hiking or mountain biking trails for the more energetic. Go fishing! From the mounted specimans around the houses the fishing has been great. The camp has a hard sand beach in front and a large side yard for outdoor games with plenty of space for jarts, badminton and the like so there's plenty to do or not to do. Go float on the lake and enjoy the peace.
Saturday-Saturday Rental: With 6 bedrooms and a sleeping porch the house can sleep 18-2 queens, a king, 4 twins, the kids' room with 3 sets of bunk beds and the sleeping porch with a double bed. There's a full bath and a three-quarter with a double sink. The bedrooms are situated so all but the sleeping porch have lake views. There's washer/dryer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and the owners provide sheets and towels. There's a gas grill on the deck, woodstove in the great room for heat.
This lakeside Beach House is part of the Adirondack Great Camp Akwissasne built by the Broadway director and producer Anthony Brady Farrell as a retreat. But in retreating he brought some of his Broadway life with him and entertained quite a bit. He had a private airplane that flew some of his guests in (He was president of Adirondack Aircraft Corp too). In 1956 Anthony B. Farrell Productions took over the operation of the local Sagandaga Summer Theatre and brought in talent from New York including Groucho Marx, Walter Matthau, Imogene Coca and Charlton Heston. Paul Barnes the scenic designer and Samuel Levine the composer and director worked with Farrell over the next several years to produce the summer theatre. Farrell's estate then included several small lakes but the house and family buildings were all built along the shore of Sand Lake. The buildings were all built along one shore so the views would be lake and mountains. Now the compound sits on 500 acres in the midst of 13,000 with trails for hiking or some for mountain biking (maps provided for tenants).
If your party is larger than the 18 for this house there is a second house available some weeks, the Sleeping Camp which can sleep 9. The Sleeping Camp is Friday to Friday and is on our site under the price $1300. So you could have 27 people in your group.
This house is available in September until Columbus Day but note only heat is woodstove but great time for fishing.
