Understanding Lake George Designations

Understanding Lake George and it’s layout can be somewhat confusing. The lake itself is 32 miles long, it is girded at what we call “The Narrows” which large groups of islands. This girding creates the northern and southern basins. The Northern Basin  (map) has at the apex Ticonderoga   (With Fort Ticonderoga )

Hague is on on the western side see Hague Map and Glenburnie,  Gull Bay map and Hulett’s Landing on the eastern side. This section of the lake tends to be quieter than it’s southern counterpart. The Southern Basin has Lake George Village at it’s base with the East side and West side branching off from this apex.
